Velvet Volume – Carry
Words: Nina de Sanders
Velvet Volume are the indie girl band of our dreams. Hailing from Denmark, three sisters Noa, Naomi, and Nataja Lachmi radiate individuality on their latest single ‘Carry’. ‘Carry’ is taken from the band’s second studio album ‘Ego’s Need’ released through Mermaid Records in late May of 2020.
The song combines upbeat instrumentals with gloomy lyrics filled with doubt about past mistakes and guilt, as depicted in the music video accompanying the song.
The video also shows off the band’s unique look and styling choices, with stills looking like they were taken straight out of a House of Hackney campaign.
Due to COVID-19 Velvet Volume are of course unable to play shows to promote their new releases, even stating this is the first summer they’ve gone without gigs since forming a band. But as soon as it is safe we are the first in line at the next Velvet Volume show.
The bands stage energy is incredibly infectious (excuse the pun) and their music seems made for the stage, ‘Carry’ is no exception to that.
