Happy Friday! As the weather is getting brighter, and we’re getting closer to spring, it’s the perfect time to put on some sweet tunes for y’all to kickstart the weekend… For this week’s New Music Friday, LDN is happy to present for you: Crystal Millz x Kairo Keyz, Puppy, Disclosure x Zedd, Pupil Slicer and Franz Ferdinand.
Words: Andrea Naess
1. Crystal Millz x Kairo Keyz – Get You Off My Mind
Great rhythm, flow and girl power are all keywords for the UK rapper Crystal Millz. In her latest single ‘Get You Off My Mind’ she is accompanied by Kairo Keys, and their chemistry in this song is beautiful. So, for all of you hip-hop fans, this is something you don’t want to miss!
2. Puppy – …And Watched it Glow
Former LDN magazine cover stars caught our attention again this week with their new single ‘…And Watched it Glow’. The song has a grunge-feeling to it, and it’s easy to dig to with its massive noise guitars. The song is a part of the London-based band’s new album ‘Pure Evil’, which is planned to be released May 6th.
3. Disclosure x Zedd – You’ve Got To Let Go If You Want To Be Free
Disclosure has given us hits like ‘You & Me’ from 2013, and the English electronic music duo’s newest single ‘You’ve Got To Let Go If You Want To Be Free’ featuring German house artist Zedd does not disappoint. “Lyrically, this song is my coping mechanism for dealing with anxiety,” Zedd has said, “Sometimes you need to remember where you are instead of holding onto where you want to be. Whether you’re socially anxious, too drunk, or even loving life – I hope that you dance to this song and remember that you’re free!”
The catchy lyrics and the great beat are a perfect combination to bring to the dancefloor this weekend. So, put on your best dancing shoes and get ready for a treat!
4. Pupil Slicer – Thermal Runway
For all of you metal fans – here’s a banger… London trio Pupil Slicer just released their new single ‘Thermal Runway’, and the song highlights topics such as depression and anxiety and was inspired by stress and frustrations from lockdown. It’s a great song to listen to if you want to let out some irritation. Co-written with and featuring guest vocals by The Armed’s Cara Drolshagen, it’s out on Bandcamp now, but there’s a great music video to complete the experience.
5. Franz Ferdinand – Curious
Franz Ferdinand had their breakthrough in 2004 with the now instantly-recognisable hit single ‘Take Me Out’ which reached No. 3 in the UK charts. Eighteen years later, the Scottish art-rockers are still going strong with their latest single ‘Curious’. LDN thinks the song is groovy and got us curious to listen to the new album ‘Hits To The Head’ that will be released in March 11. And now it’s time for a formation dance…
