Words: Nina de Sander

What decade is it? Getting lost in High-Hi’s second album Firepool, it’s easy to forget this is in fact not the 80’s. Particularly on 94A9, the first in a series of singles released leading up to the album, and for which the music video came out a few days ago.
Floating somewhere in the realms of synth pop and new wave, 94A9 fills the listener with slight existential dread whilst remaining extremely danceable and festival proof.

The Belgian trio consists of Anne-Sophie Ooghe, Didi Gonzalez, and Koen Weverbergh. Amongst their fans is 6Music legend Steve Lamacq, who featured their

2015 single Calm Down Sir on his show.
