On the latest episode of ‘The Joe Budden Podcast’ Griselda member Westside Gunn announced he has left Shady Records, owned by rap superstar Eminem. This has come as a shock for many as Gunn has been quite busy this year in terms of releases with two mixtapes, including the well-received ‘Pray For Paris’ and an album. It is heavily rumoured that the 90s inspired lyricist was unhappy with how Shady Records went about promoting his music compared to other artists. This will no doubt leave many wondering where Griselda, hip hop collective made up of Gunn, his brother Conway the Machine and Benny the Butcher will continue making music together or separate due to Conway and Benny remaining signed to Shady Records as of now.

Fans of Gunn in particular noticed the man behind the label, Eminem was quick to promote the likes of DJ Alchemist’s latest release on social media yet failed to mention anything about the release of his latest album ‘WHO MADE THE SUNSHINE’. Another possible factor could be the label’s apparent unawareness that Griselda were nominated this year for a BET (Black Entertainment Television) award which Gunn took to Twitter to vent his frustration back in June.
Despite the obvious tension the Buffalo rapper did thank Shady Records and manager Paul Rosenberg on Twitter stating that “It was a journey and a great learning experience” working with the label.
