New Music Monday – 30/3/2026

This week we’ve got Jim Legxacy setting the tone with his signature genre blending sound. James Taylor Quartet brings a vibrant blend of acid jazz and classic funk, while Kilu adds a fresh, genre-blurring energy with smooth, contemporary production. Tia Gordon delivers a soulful touch, weaving emotion through her rich vocals, before Terrace Martin rounds things off—fusing jazz, hip-hop, and modern R&B into a warm, immersive soundscape.

With three BRIT Award nominations, Jim Legxacy returns with his new single ‘idk idk’. Turning inwards, us as listeners have a chance to resonate with Legxacy on this constant winding road of self discovery and the uncertainty that lies between it all. Known for reflecting on his youth alongside a diary-style writing this rising South-East artist is one to watch.

Soon after the release of the classical-influenced ‘Shadows and Dreams’ , the renowned British acid jazz-funk band is back with a brilliant track Have Mercy On Us featuring the Benenden Chapel Choir, an all-girl ensemble from the private school in Kent. Using a mix of Brazilian samba and Gregorian chants, this track leans into this musical richness alongside this strong gospel and choral influence. Celebrating his 40th year leading the Quartet, keyboardist James Taylor recently re-signed with his original label Acid Jazz, embarking on a series of exciting projects, which will culminate in a new release later this year.

An emerging 22-year-old, London based singer songwriter and producer Kilu takes us on a dreamlike journey. His soft delivery doesn’t take away from the themes of fragility, self awareness, and connection ‘Verden’  captures Kilu’s strength in creating mood-driven, emotionally raw music, pulling you in rather than demanding attention.

Steadily making waves within the UK music scene, Tia Gordon – a singer songwriter from Westerham, Kent – hits us with ‘Should i give it up?’, another brilliant single leading up to her 2026 EP ‘i asked the stars for this’ . With warm, hopeful vocals Tia is able to explore the complexities of life, societal and existential pressures without it sounding so heavy and miserable.

Terrace Martin the highly acclaimed Grammy-nominated American producer, multi-instrumentalist, and singer from Los Angeles releases a new track  that sits within his 2026 project ‘PERSPECTIVE’, built on fluid musical direction all whilst blending jazz and hip-hop elements ‘Uncomfortable pivot’ brings us someplace familiar embodying that classic west coast sound.
