Live Review – Elephant Kind at The Victoria

Words and Photography: Grace Minghella

Following their most recent Live in London EP, Elephant Kind is on a mission to become England’s biggest band after claiming the title in their homelands of Indonesia. LDN’s Grace Minghella heads to the show to bring their intimate East London show straight to you at home.

Elephant Kind relocated to London in 2022 to leave a mark on the city which has seen the success of many artists hoping that they will be ‘The Next Big Thing’. While on British shores, they have seen great success, being nominated for a VMA and attending multiple festivals. This impact was clearly seen by the fans during their headline show at Hackney’s Victoria with everyone singing and dancing along. The vibes in that venue were truly electric.

Their music was unique and like nothing I had heard before, each band member brought their own style which was all pulled together in perfect harmony to create an electronic, indie pop melody. The use of different instruments was really fascinating and there was never a boring moment when they were on stage which was reflected in the atmosphere and the joy of the people in the audience. The sheer amount of energy from the trio on stage was infectious. They performed a mix of older and newer music which was a great way to introduce new people to their band and the inventive sounds they create, such as new single ‘Louder’.
