In need of a new summer tune for your playlist? We gotcha, with Robbie Z‘s brand new song ‘Adult Baby’.
Singer and rapper Robbie Z has morphed into a new creative phase after his Butterfly Trap era following the boat show at the Battersea Barge last April. ‘Adult Baby’ is the lead single from Robbie Z’s upcoming second EP Dear Diary. The song is something that we haven’t heard before from the singer; a catchy and funky number that easily gets stuck into your head. Robbie joined forces with producer and BIMM graduate Tommy Ringlöv aka sojboj.
“You can interpret the meaning of the song in your own way”, tells Robbie to LDN Magazine. If he has to explain how he sees the song, it’s that the track a double meaning. “The first meaning is about being in love and being sad over an ex who chose to never grow up and blames everything on their childhood trauma. You’re having a hard time adjusting. But in the music video, I portray myself as the person that holds themself accountable, me being the adult baby.”
The music video is directed by Christian Chrastev and co-directed by Robbie Z. It’s heavily inspired by the aesthetic ‘kidcore’ centered around bright colors and nostalgia. Robbie is seen in a classroom from a primary school and proves that Robbie is just in his own ‘Adult Baby’ world, and we’re just living in it.
